Anne Perry

Juliet Marion Hulme was born on October 28, 1938 in Blackheath, London. She is the well known author that writes detective books based on past history. Anne is the daughter of a doctor. She had tuberculosis when she was young and sent to a warmer climate to make her better at the age of eight. When she was 10, she was able to be with her family who were living in New Zealand. She claims to have had a Swiss Family Robinson style of living then. Yet at the age of 13 she was sick again, and sent off once more.

When she was around the age of sixteen she and a friend named Pauline killed Pauline’s mom. Both girls hit the mom 45 times to kill her. They stood trial and were found guilty in 1954. Their sentence was detainment at the discretion of the Minister of Justice and five years later released, but the girls were not able to get in touch with each other ever again. There was a movie made in 1994 based on this event called "Heavenly Creatures."

After her release, Juliet became a flight attendant and lived in the United States for a little while. By 1979 Juliet took the name of Anne Perry and her first book, "The Cater Street Hangman" was published. Thomas Pitt is one of the characters in her books that is reoccurring. There is also William Monk who shows up in several books too. Some of her books are "Ashworth Hall," "Bedford Square," "Bethlehem Road" and many more.
