Tony Hillerman wrote the book, "Coyote Waits." The book was made into a film in 2002 and was aired on PBS, starring Adam Beach as Officer Jim Chee. Officer Jim Chee's friend gets killed and the case of the homicide was not over yet even though they thought it was a Navajo shaman. The Navajo shaman's name is Ashie Pinto and he had the weapon that killed Del. Of course from here he was arrested. Ashie is the kinsman of Leaphorn's wife Emma and she wants her husband to figure everything out.
Ashie was defended by a woman, but Pinto did not confess or deny that he did it. Before everything happened something was haunting the hills and weird things were painted on the rocks. More goes on and a witnesses comes up that go to Navajo High School. One witness is an ex-CIA operative, Taka, and he loves telephoto photography. Tagert, a missing professor, is being looked for by Pinto.
The professor thinks that Butch Cassidy got away from an ambush to get killed in a shootout. No one knows where Tagert is and everything gets more exciting. The story goes on and Leaphorn and Jim Chee try to figure out the homicide and the Coyote is always waiting, hungry. In the story, Officer Jim Chee is played by Adam Beach. He is the one who is trying to figure out the mystery of the killing of Nez Chee. Adam Beacah is from the Saulteaux tribe in Manitoba, Canada. Beach has appeared in other movies also.
