This is a story about a deputy sheriff who got a part-time job working as a security officer at a casino. Some people knew of his background with law enforcement and others just saw him as a rent-a-cop. While he was there, he made a few friends and met a girl who he fell in love with.
One day three men arrived at the casino and they were not there to play games. They planned to rob the place. Just before they arrived, the deputy was outside talking with a friend when he noticed the men acting suspicious. He sent his friend in another direction as he went to check out the men. Then he noticed one of the men climbing onto the roof of the casino and the others were trying to enter into the accounting door of the casino. The deputy knew no one would be using that door at this time. As he was approaching the robbers he called out and the door swung open from inside the casino, and one of the guards came to see who or what was on the roof. As soon as he opened the door the robbers opened fire and shot the guard, and turned and shot the deputy sheriff that was getting closer to them. He was wounded and in critical condition. Within minutes they were through stuffing away the money and fled the area before anyone could do anything. It was thought that they made an escape by plane.
Soon the FBI arrived and started the investigation and somehow the wounded deputy became a suspect to the robbery. Later in the investigation the federal agents realized that their theory did not make sense, so a team was started on a manhunt for the real criminals.
