Another Famous Mystery Author
Thomas Perry has been many things in his lifetime, but is famous for his mystery novels. He was born in 1947 in Tonawanda, New York. He excelled in his academic career and received a B.A. and then a Ph.D. in English Literature. In addition to the many odd careers that he has had, Thomas Perry has written sixteen novels and is expected to have a new novel published in 2009.
Before he began writing novels, he wrote for television and movies. The TV series Simon and Simon was fortunate to have mystery writer Thomas Perry as one of the writers. He not only wrote for the series, but he also produced some of the sessions. He wrote and produced for 21 Jump Street and Star Trek: The Next Generation. He also worked with the staff on Sidekicks, The Oldest Rookie at Disney and Snoops.
Thomas Perry received the 1983 Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for the best first novel, The Butcher’s Boy. Vanishing Act, which was published in 1995, was chosen as one of the 100 favorite mysteries of the 20th century by the Mystery Book Sellers Association. Both of these awards are very impressive. The most famous novels that Perry has penned is the Jane Whitefield series.
Thomas Perry may not be the most prolific writer, but he remains to be one of the better authors of this century. The Jane Whitefield books are some of the most beloved mystery stories ever written, and Perry is sure to give of more of the same in the future.
