Mystery Character Elvis Cole
Author Robert Crais created Elvis Cole as a character in one of his detective novels and has been using him ever since. Cole is a private eye who is an easy touch with the women. He is like a big old teddy bear when he sees a woman in trouble. Cole was a United States Army Ranger and served in Vietnam. He was also a security guard at one time. Cole is very good with Martial Arts and practices it on his deck as often as he can.
He drives a 1966 Yellow Chevy Corvette Stingray convertible, which is part of the trademark for his character. Cole also wears Hawaiian shirts all the time. He has his office on Santa Monica Boulevard where he displays figurines of Disney characters in his office because he is a child at heart. In fact he has expressed the desire to be like Peter Pan and never grow up. Cole lives in Los Angeles, California but he has traveled the world over because of his investigations.
Elvis Cole has a partner who has been nicknamed "tight lipped", but his name is Joe Pike. Joe was a USMC veteran also in Vietnam. Pike is always called in to "ride shotgun" in all of Elvis' cases. Cole thinks that he is the best private eye in the entire world. He wears a Dan Wesson .38 pistol in a shoulder holster and he drinks coffee out of a Mickey Mouse cup. Although he looks like a child in a man’s body he is good at what he does.
