Elvis Cole - Mystery Character
Elvis Cole was created by Robert Crais and as a mystery character, he evolves more with each new novel. On the surface, you would think he is a little on the flaky side and how could he ever put more than two thoughts together to solve anything. What the first impression misses is that all the while he’s quoting Jiminy Cricket, he is assessing the other person, victim or predator. Elvis, named after the King, doesn’t appear to be very low-key as he drives a ’66 yellow corvette.
Well-known in the detective business for his conscientiousness and compassion, he doesn’t hesitate to pull out his Wesson 38 if necessary. He’s quick and steady on his feet from all the Yoga and Tai Chi practice, not to mention the martial arts training. Elvis is not to be underestimated as his Army Ranger background has prepared him for whatever comes his way.
All that said, Elvis Cole is attracted to injustices, especially when there are women and children involved. In many of the mystery novels, Elvis seems to gain strength as he is spurred on trying to right a wrong. A true hero that sometimes wears his heart on his sleeve can fool a criminal. One look at his Mickey Mouse watch and the villain is confused and off balance. That’s where Elvis Cole likes to keep them.
Aided by his mysterious ex-Marine sidekick, Joe Pike, each novel intensifies in suspense. Elvis Cole is admired by men as well as women. Men would love to have Elvis’s magnetic charm along with his command of every situation. Robert Crais’, Elvis Cole, has something for everyone.
