James Patterson

James Patterson, author and creator of Alex Cross and the Woman’s Murder Club has published 16 million books to date. “Along Came a Spider,” “Kiss the Girls” and “Jack & Jill” are three in the Alex Cross series. Cross is a forensic psychologist who works for the Washington D.C. police force and consults with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Patterson’s books are definite page turners and usually have a surprise ending.

The Women’s Murder Club series are “1st to Die,” “2nd Chance,” and “4th of July.” These novels have four women; a cop, an attorney, a coroner and a reporter who collaborate to solve crimes. The women are delightful, intelligent and bring a sort of pizazz to the job of crime solving.

Patterson was born March 22, 1947 in New York. He worked for the J.W. Thompson advertising company and was responsible for the slogan “Toys R Us Kid.” After his first novel, “Along Came a Spider” was such a huge success, Patterson retired from his job and began writing full time.

During the year of 2007, one out of every fifteen hard cover books that were sold was a James Patterson novel. He has won just about every award imaginable including Mystery Guild Thriller of the Year, International Thriller of the Year and the Edgar award, just to mention a few. One of his books that isn’t touted as much as some is “The Beach House.” If you want to read a fantastic story that will absolutely knock your socks off at the end, you need to read this book.
